Dear Avery,
I can’t believe you turned FOUR earlier this month! When I look back on the photos of you meeting your baby brother and sister in the hospital for the first time right before you turned three, I can hardly recognize that toddler in those photos. My, how you have grown and changed in a year.
You are SO observant; you notice EVERYTHING, especially when we are driving in the car. You point out things to me that I never would have noticed on my own. You never cease to amaze me!
Lately you are loving your ballet class, dancing around in the house in your leotard, tights, and ballet slippers, and showing us all of your new moves. This week you showed me the difference between “nice” and “icky” toes. You are learning your letters, and even starting to put them together as words.
You like things just-so, and sometimes we still have days where you are very w-h-i-n-y. This is the hardest “characteristic” about you for me to handle. Sometimes your whining makes me turn into a lunatic mommy and I yell. Oops.
But then there are days like that perfect fall evening when just you and I went down to the beach to play on the swings, explore the beach, and you jumped in and out of the small waves with your boots on. I remember the warmth of the sun, your silly smile, and tight squeeze hugs when the wind picked up.
I hope there are many more days like that to come. Happy birthday, my sweet girl.
Love,
Mama
I’m joined in this “Letters to Our Children” blog circle by a group of fantastic photographer mothers. Each month we write a letter to one of our children, accompanied by our photography, then link up our blogs. An attempt to capture the fleeting and celebrate motherhood. Stop by Davina’s blog to read her letter and enjoy her photos, then keep following the circle around until you end up back here.
