They were all in the backyard when I arrived, with two growlers of beer and two big bags of chips opened on the patio table. Leftovers from dad’s birthday party the evening before. Mom turned on the water hose and big brother went to work filling up the water table. And Haley, their sweet golden retriever, hobbled on over to take a long, cool drink out of the water table.
What a wonderful evening we had together in this family’s backyard in late summer. It’s one of my all-time favorite family sessions. Mom wanted a session at their home, documenting real life with their kids. Their first child, the fur baby, was the real impetus for this session, as she’s ailing and has a tumor compressing her spinal cord. Uncertain how much time they had left with her, we set out to capture a perfectly real summer evening at home.
Chips, beer, baseball, water table, otter pops, and love. What more could you ask for?
