What a joy to photograph the H family the day after Christmas! I wasn’t planning to do any sessions over the holidays in order to maximize time with my own family, but I just could not turn down this request. This family gathered from near and also very far for the holidays, so it was really special to photograph them together. It was also their first grandchild’s visit to Seattle. So special. Baby’s grandma wanted this photo session because her son and daughter-in-law don’t have many photos of the three of them as a family. This is a common theme in many families, even mine. They have many of just baby or mom & baby, since dad is the family photographer, so I wanted to get a few special ones with dad & baby. I was so happy to create some beautiful images of them as an entire family. And boy, did baby do well, even though she was on east coast time and overdue for a nap!!!!
The porch swing in the last photo tells a family story. It was the setting for many a Christmas card photos when these boys were growing up. Dad would haul out the tripod and one roll of 36 exposure film back before the days of digital, to try to capture a family picture for the annual holiday card. It was fun to get a family photo in the same swing now that everyone is grown up! And don’t you just love baby’s expression in that last photo?! Awe.some.
