This was a very special family session for me to photograph. Mom had gotten my name as a referral from her friend (the BEST compliment I can receive), and wanted me to come over to photograph her family. Her oldest daughter would be visiting Seattle with her family, and her son would soon be leaving Seattle and moving away to start a new adventure. So in essence, it was a bit about capturing endings and new beginnings. We did the session at their family home; a beautiful old house that they lovingly restored, and the place where the kids grew up. There’s so much meaning to the photos, so it’s no surprise that clients’ homes are my most favorite location to do a session. Mom was emotional at times, and though I am maybe 20 years out from seeing my kiddos move on and away, the emotions of the day indeed tugged at my mommy heart strings. I left feeling happy to witness the love they share for each other, sad for the distance and everyday moments they are not able to share, and thankful for my own little brood that I have at least a handful more years to enjoy in our full house.
